Crotty Insurance, the Dublin-based commercial broker that was acquired by Global Risk Partners in September 2020, has made its first acquisition under GRP ownership with the purchase of Martin Insurance. Eoin Greene, Crotty CEO, hailed the acquisition as “a big step forward for Crotty. We have made no secret of our desire to grow inorganically when the right opportunity arises.”
Global Risk Partners (GRP) today confirmed that it has completed its acquisition of Marsh’s UK Networks business, following regulatory approval. Mike Bruce, GRP’s Group CEO, said: “This is another important milestone for GRP and I look forward to supporting David and his team in their drive to achieve exceptional growth and success for Hedron under our ownership.”
GRP has hired Steve Anson from Ardonagh as Chief Operating Officer (COO). Mike Bruce said “Steve is a marquee signing for GRP and underlines the critical importance we attach to successfully delivering our transformation programme".
The Leeds-based broker will join GRP’s Yorkshire hub Marshall Wooldridge and is the fourth brokerage to become part of Marshall Wooldridge since GRP invested in the business in 2016. Geoff Kirk, managing director of Marshall Wooldridge, said “This is a great deal for all parties and I’m especially pleased to welcome Paul and his team at Lawrence Fraser to Marshall Wooldridge and the wider GRP Group.”

Global Risk Partners’ (GRP) Chesterfield brokerage, DCJ Group Insurance & Risk Management Limited (DCJ), has acquired Lincoln based commercial insurance broker J E Sills & Sons Limited (Sills). DCJ founder David Jones said: “It’s great that such a well-established name in the East Midlands is going to be part of DCJ."
GRP’s Birmingham brokerage, Newstead Insurance Brokers has announced its first acquisition, making good on its promise to accelerate inorganic growth, after becoming part of GRP in November 2020. Newstead director Paul O’Donnell said: “Alford Burton is a high-quality local insurance broker who will add considerable scale to our operation and help us to rapidly build out our presence in Birmingham and the West Midlands.”
GRP has continued its fast start to 2021 with the acquisition of Five Insurance Brokers Ltd. According to director Rob Shurety, Five is targeting substantial growth on the back of added firepower from GRP. He said: "This is a great deal for Five and its clients and we are fully expecting to accelerate our profitable growth under new ownership”
